LONDON -- To say British astronaut Tim Peake is taking this whole space travel thing in his stride would be putting it mildly.
Not only did he show pretty much zero fear in the build-up to Tuesday's launch, but now he's tweeting from space as if it's the most everyday thing in the world.
On Tuesday, Sir Elton John wished Peake good luck on Twitter.
From one Rocket Man to another, good luck @astro_timpeake with your launch and mission! #Principia #spacerocks— Elton John (@eltonofficial) December 15, 2015
And on Thursday, Tim sent this reply.
Thank you! Sorry for late reply. Was already in spacecraft when your message came in (zero hour 9 am). #spacerocks https://t.co/Dr9QHl4u7R— Tim Peake (@astro_timpeake) December 17, 2015
It's like he's doing nothing more exciting than sending a late text, or responding to a relative's missed call.
This guy summed up the whole exchange pretty well.
@astro_timpeake @eltonofficial well I think that has to be the coolest 2 tweets I have ever seen #spacerocks— Gideon Hedley (@GideonHedley) December 17, 2015
Extra points to Peake for his casual use of the hashtag #spacerocks, which no-one will ever be able to use in quite the same way again.
