LONDON -- It's nice to know that even astronauts are still utterly amazed by the majesty of seeing the Earth from space.

British astronaut Tim Peake, who is currently doing a six-month stint aboard the International Space Station, shared a stunning timelapse video of lightning striking the planet.

Amazing how much lightning can strike our planet in a short time #Principia #timelapsehttps://t.co/XijV5E1pI0— Tim Peake (@astro_timpeake) February 9, 2016

The video takes you from North Africa over Turkey toward Russia.

Peake has been tweeting rather prolifically during his time on the space station, sharing videos of making scrambled eggs and pictures of his celestial views. He's also been calling people on the phone and playing lyrics quizzes with his followers.
