If 'Time' is going to ruin VR, let's at least have some fun with it

Don't let the encouraging words about virtual reality's future on the latest cover of Time fool you; the magazine hates VR. I mean, clearly, right? Just look at this absurd photo of Oculus Rift creator Palmer Lucky doing... something? Flying maybe? And for some reason it's... on a beach?

WTF?

We love you and your creation, Palmer. Really, we do. But we just can't with this cover. Unless VR actually gives users the ability to levitate inches above the beach (sigh, hoverboards), this image is way off. VR is what happens inside the headset, and, sadly, it does not make you float.

Twitter, in its infinite wisdom, saw the amazing cover photo and seized the opportunity to deliver some funny jabs. Here are some highlights. We're sorry, Palmer. It's not you, it's Time.

You're the best, Twitter friends. Never change. Thankfully for Time, Mashable's own Chelsea Stark fixed everything.

Hey @time. I asked @chelseabot to fix that cover for you. Now with 100% more awesome. pic.twitter.com/Ge3uXaWkzX — Adam Rosenberg (@geminibros) August 6, 2015
