Tinder can be a very bleak place.

In a world of nearly reflexive left swipes, sometimes you have to take desperate measures to get noticed.

That's why Jake Chapman texted ex-girlfriends at 1 a.m. asking them to write a review of him for his Tinder profile, presumably under the assumption that negative attention is better than no attention.

Chapman, who describes himself as a "life liver, smile giver, rick roller, programmer, fake designer, and chef in training" on Instagram, detailed the experience on Reddit.

His ex-girlfriends' reactions were mixed. "Why are you doing this?" was a universal sentiment, but some former flames who didn't feel harassed had positive things to say.

Chapman claims that one ex-girlfriend named Taylor got in touch because she was offended that she wasn't asked to participate.

After that, the story took an interesting turn. She initially informed him that she was in a relationship, but soon after sent him these texts:

Taylor allegedly really, really wants him back and not only dumped her boyfriend, but booked a ticket to visit Chapman.

Chapman's scheme is apparently working -- a reunion with his former flame is in the cards and he claims that his "matches are blowing up."

He even inspired one other Redditor to take a long, hard look at his own life.

The majority of the replies to his thread were, unsurprisingly, congratulations sprinkled with misogyny.

There were also plenty of offers to take Taylor off Chapman's hands should their reunion not work out, because what's more romantic than finding love with some guy on Reddit's ex?
