The core of the site hasn't changed much; it still brings stories related to finance, trading, the stock market and the economy for users to read, submit, vote and comment upon. One novelty is support for videos, which can be submitted just like any other link and play inside the Tip'd page.
Furthermore, Tip'd now keeps track of its top submitters (unlike, for example, Digg, which abandoned the concept of top users a while ago), and you can also see the site's hundred most popular stories of all time.
The most interesting feature, however, are Social Tickers, pages that track what the world of social media has to say on a particular stock ticker. Besides the actual ticker you can see the latest related blog posts, DeliciousDelicious reviews[img src="http://static1.blippr.com/images/inline-face_05.png?1237798206" caption="" credit="" alt="Delicious reviews"] bookmarks, tweets, and of course Tip'd stories. If you're interested in a stock that's listed on NYSE or NASDAQ, the Tip'd Social Ticker is a great way to keep track of what's happening with it and around it.
Of course, my usual complaint about the lack of stocks from other (major, at least) world markets applies here, but I'm aware that including these would severely complicate the life of Tip'd's developers. Minor qualms aside, turning stock tickers into social media hubs is a great idea, hopefully we'll see more of these from Tip'd in the future.
In other news, Tip'd now also has its own FacebookFacebook reviews[img src="http://static1.blippr.com/images/inline-face_05.png?1237798206" caption="" credit="" alt="Facebook reviews"] application which can be found here. Finally, it introduces a potentially interesting idea of community ambassadors, by maintaining a top list of users which have signed up other users to the service. If you're actively promoting the site, you get acknowledgment from Tip'd, which might encourage users to help the site grow and prosper.
