The world as we find it in TNT's Public Morals is a complicated one.

It's set in the 1960s, and for New York City's finest, walking the line between morality and criminality is part of getting the job done.

Edward Burns stands at the center of this tale, playing officer Terry Muldoon, a vice cop who knows how to play the game, but doesn't always like it.

Burns, naturally, is also at the center of some new retro art for the show, which you're seeing first on Mashable.

The posters pay tribute to some of the greatest crime dramas of the time, from 1967's Tony Rome, to 1971's Get Carter.

The show is produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television and also stars Michael Rapaport (Justified) and Elizabeth Masucci (The Americans).

It premieres Aug. 25 at 10 p.m. ET on TNT.
