Comedian and Nerdist founder Chris Hardwick could teach a thing or two about public relations. Hardwick just snagged actor Tom Hanks as guest on his podcast, using a vintage typewriter as bait.

Hardwick and the folks at Nerdist Industries sent Hanks a 1934 Corona typewriter, which included a typed invitation to come on the Nerdist podcast.

"We are nice guys who are easy to get along with and have never murdered anyone," Chris "Vintage Typewriters" Hardwick wrote in the letter.

Hanks tactfully responded with the clever letter, shown below. Hardwick shared his excitement on Reddit, and it quickly shot to the front page.

As one Reddit user pointed out, Hanks is a typewriter aficianado. The actor owns several hundred, most of which are displayed in his Playtone production office.

Hanks stayed true to his word, and the interview is already available to listen. Hanks, Hardwick and the Nerdist team talk about NASA logos, Storage Wars and, of course, typewriters.

Hardwick appears to still be processing how he pulled this stunt off.
