Welcome to this morning's edition of "First To Know," a series in which we keep you in the know on what's happening in the digital world.

Today, we're looking at three particularly interesting stories. If you missed that coveted .com address you were after, rest easy -- some new domains are opening up. Donuts, a domain name registry, is slowly opening up access to .bike, .singles, .clothing and more. 9to5Mac has some interesting new details about that sapphire plant Apple’s been working on. According to documents made public by the Foreign Trade Zones Board, the company is aggressively pushing to open the plant in February. And, Lenovo announced Wednesday its purchase of Google’s Motorola smartphone business for $2.9 billion.
