Tracy Morgan is heading to the Today show on June 1.

The actor, joined by his lawyer, Benedict Morelli, will give his first TV interview to Today's Matt Lauer since sustaining critical injuries in a car crash last year.

Morgan and some friends were in a limo van on a New Jersey highway last June when they were slammed by a Wal-Mart truck. Comedian James "Jimmy Mack" McNair was killed, while Morgan "suffered head trauma, a broken leg and broken ribs." Morgan's lawyer previously said his client sustained a "severe brain injury."

The crash led to a lengthy lawsuit against Wal-Mart, which was only recently settled. The truck driver, Kevin Roper, faces several criminal charges, among them death by auto. An investigation estimated Roper was driving 65 mph at the time of the crash, and had not slept for more than 24 hours.

The actor was slated to attend the 40th anniversary special of Saturday Night Live earlier this year, but was ultimately unable due to his injuries. Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin paid tribute to him during the during the special.

Morgan is best known for his extensive work on SNL and 30 Rock. He appeared in the 2014 Chris Rock comedy Top Five and did voice acting for the animated film The Boxtrolls.
