With models like Andreja Pejic, Hari Nef and Lea T already taking the modeling world by storm, it only makes sense that a transgender-only agency is opening shop here in the U.S.

Already successful at its home base of Bangkok Apple Model Management, an agency that caters to transgender male and female models, hopes to find a place in the U.S. market.
The open environment that transgender people have experienced in Thailand is what L.A. agency director Cecilio Asuncion hopes to discover at the new location.
"It's slowly changing," he told Mashable. "It is a buddhist culture so it's more forgiving of trans people."
When asked why Los Angeles was the perfect location, Asuncion explained that it was both fashion and commercially viable.
"We want equality in the workplace...there is a big fashion market, why not give them a piece," he asks.
The L.A. branch already has six models and is looking for more, with the same criteria as other modeling agencies ie a minimum 5'8 height for women and 6'0 for men requirement so that these models are treated the same as cis-gender models.
Asuncion, who recently released the documentary What’s the T? which explores the challenges five transgender women face on a daily basis, hopes this agency continues the conversation that has been happening in the transgender community.
"It is time for the LGBT community to step up and help one another," he says. "The lay of the land is changing. We truly want to develop the best models,"
