Good news for moppas, their dysfunctional adult children and the viewers who love them: Amazon announced on Thursday that it has already green-lit a third season of Jill Soloway's groundbreaking comedy Transparent -- before Season 2 has even finished production.
The series, which premiered on Amazon Instant Video in February 2014, follows the Pfefferman family's patriarch-turned-matriarch, Maura (Golden Globe winner Jeffrey Tambor), as she learns to live as a transgender woman. Judith Light also stars as Maura's ex-wife, while Gaby Hoffman, Amy Landecker and Jay Duplass play her kids.
“Jill is truly a creative force and I’m thrilled that we will be collaborating with her additional projects in the future and on a third season of Transparent,” Amazon Studios vice-president Roy Price said in a statement. “The second season is currently starting production, and I know our customers will be delighted to continue the journey with Maura and the Pfefferman family.”
Transparent Season 2 is slated to premiere later this year.
