Video advertising network Tremor Media has raised $11 million in a Series B round. The round was led by Masthead Venture Partners and Canaan Partners. As VentureBeat noted, Tremor Media has grown more than 50% since the beginning of 2006, and has become pretty prominent in terms of its reach. Temor Media has become the 18th largest network, with more than 90 million unique visitors in November. The video ad network reaches 50% of all Internet users, according to a recent comScore report. Part of Tremor Media's growth can be attributed to its partnerships and distribution deals with EyeSpot and ExpoTV, among others.

Online video advertising has obviously become increasingly important as online video distribution increases in usage and reach, presenting more opportunities for varied methods to be employed. As media itself shifts from a traditional model to a web-based model, advertisers are becoming more interested in online campaigns, and leveraging a medium that very much mimics traditional television and film formats is of great interest to brands and content publishers. Folks like the striking writers will be looking to ad networks such as Tremor Media to substantiate their distribution channels and production efforts.
