Cities Solace Boston With Heartfelt Displays

Buildings in Boston and New York were lit up Monday evening in tribute to the victims of the earlier explosions near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Boston Police Department Commissioner Ed Davis said in a Tuesday press conference there have been 176 victims of the explosions while 17 of them are in critical condition with three fatalities thus far.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Green Building in Cambridge, Mass. -- known for its playful "lighting hacks" -- was lit in an American flag scheme:

Approximately 200 miles down the eastern seaboard, a projector displayed messages of love and support for Boston onto the Brooklyn Art Museum in Brooklyn, N.Y. The design was particularly emotionally charged for sports fans, as Boston and New York are heated rivals in most major sports:
