President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed trick-or-treaters to a traditional White House Halloween -- complete with First Dog Bo and Sunny topiaries dressed as circus clowns.
Schoolchildren and military families from across the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area streamed onto the White House grounds, dressed as Piglets, princesses and Dr. Seuss characters.
The kids goggled at the 200 pumpkins, acrobats and dramatic spider decorations, and passed Glinda the Good Witch waving from inside a giant bubble.
The President and First Lady grinned and chatted with the kids as they handed out bags of goodies. Included in the haul: White House Hershey Kisses and a White House Sweet Dough Butter Cookie, along with black licorice and orange tangerine jelly beans, kettle corn, Bo and Sunny baseball cards and a Gala apple.
Though Mrs. Obama has dressed up in the past, both Obamas kept it simple this Halloween, in what appeared to be classic, convincing President and First Lady costumes.
