The Triple J Hottest 100, an annual countdown of the year's biggest songs not played on Top 40 radio (well, most), is something of a cultural institution for Australia. It is a countdown chosen by the people for the people.

Broadcasted on Australia Day, the Hottest 100 is the ideal soundtrack to a big barbecue accompanied by a slab of VB and a sneaky dip in the pool. The 2014 countdown was owned almost wholesale by Australian artist Chet Faker.

Triple J have stepped it up a notch this year with a seemingly Michael Bay-inspired trailer to announce voting and nominations have officially opened for 2015's countdown.

It's big, bold, and features Tame Impala, Mark Ronson, Flume, Courtney Barnett and Porter Robinson (among many, many others). The Doctor Peter Capaldi himself even drops in for a cameo at the very end.
