You cheddar believe it, the bad puns are rolling after a truck carrying tonnes of cheese crashed on an Australian highway.

On Monday night, a semi-trailer carrying 20 tonnes of cheese between Bega and Sydney crashed at Jerrawangala, according to ABC News journalist Ainslie Drewitt Smith.

Drewitt Smith shared the whole sorry incident on Twitter, devastating cheese eaters across the country. Blocks of Bega cheese, cheese snacks, cheese sticks, cheese slices, tasty cheese, cheese stringers and country vintage light cheese were seen smashed and strewn across the road.

Fairfax Media reported the cheese was scraped off the road and put in another truck to be weighed for insurance reasons. Onlookers reportedly sobbed and held each other.

It is a devastating end to what should have been a standard delivery to the homes of families around Australia. Many are mourning the loss of all of life's goodness on social media. Many don't know where to turn as wine and cheese time nears. They just camembert it.
