Trulia, the real estate web site, has announced the Trulia Publisher Platform, which allows other web sites to offer real estate listings under their own brand. Early partners include Kiplinger, Village Voice Media, and AmericanTowns.
The premise here is pretty simple: Trulia provides partners with software and listings, while partners provide Trulia with additional traffic. Additionally, Trulia shares advertising revenue with publishing partners that participate in the program. It’s a similar approach to that employed by SimplyHired, who powers the job listing portion of MySpace and other sites.
At the moment, it looks like the partnership is more of an affiliate program than a full-blown private label system. For example, on the Kiplinger site there is a box where you can enter in a zip code to start a real estate search, but once clicked, this simply re-directs to Trulia, versus a Kiplinger branded page.
