TrustedPlaces, a local reviews site and social network that's focused mainly on the UK market, just informed Mashable that it has raised GBP £500,000 (approx $1M) from HOWZAT media LLP, a startup investment fund. HOWZAT co-founder Hugo Burge will take a place on the Board. HOWZAT has also backed WAYN and Zoomf, making this their first investment that doesn't have a stupid name. ;)

As mentioned previously, TrustedPlaces is about reviewing restaurants, bars and places to socialize.

On February 1st, they rolled out a complete redesign, which I think is a big improvement over the old green one. They also debuted "Taste Finder", a mini recommendation engine, and the "TrustedPlaces Card", which gives up to 50% off at over 300 London restaurants.
