Well, it's good news for frequent fliers: TSA Pre-Check, the fast-pass line at airport security, will no longer accept passengers who randomly get bumped up from the regular screening process, meaning the Pre-Check lines should get shorter and faster.

It’s bad news for regular travelers who loved those rare, unexpected, delightful upgrades at security. It's time to go back to taking off your shoes, taking liquids out of bags and putting laptops in a separate bin.

The “Managed Inclusion Program” is now officially no more in airports nationwide, limiting Pre-Check access only to those who have signed up for a trusted traveler program.

There are many possible reasons for the end of "managed inclusion": perhaps security concerns, or perhaps complaints from frustrated passengers who paid for Pre-Check access:

I admit to being an air travel snob. Fun seeing people trying to sneak through the TSA precheck line in a group or plead ignorance.— MFF McMoots (@poomiepuma) September 8, 2015

People who randomly get TSA precheck when checking in should be shown a mandatory instructional video before getting in the precheck line— Share Traveler (@ShareTraveler) September 7, 2015

Hey @AmericanAir I entered in my TSA precheck number but my boarding pass is saying I have to wait in the regular line with the plebs— Kelly (@kellyhunnybunny) September 18, 2015

For all the “plebs” who will miss randomly getting put through Pre-Check, you can get the perk back by enrolling for Pre-Check for $85 or Global Entry for $100. Passengers must complete an application and in-person interview. Trusted Traveler status is valid for five years.
