Tumblr founder and CEO David Karp is in a new digital campaign for Uniqlo, the Japanese retailer.
Karp is featured along with dozens of other New Yorkers, including CoolHunting.com founder and editor-in-chief Josh Rubin and Interviews50cents founder Alex Chadwick, in a digital mosaic called NYC Voices. The campaign supports the opening of Uniqlo's flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York, which opens this fall.
In a two-minute video, Karp explains what Tumblr is and how people use it. For example, he says that people in their fifties and sixties who are picking up a photography hobby for the first time can find a community on Tumblr where they can learn from others and share their own thoughts and photos. "That stuff really gets us excited," says Karp.
