Following in the footsteps of Starbucks, which launched a similar program last October, Coca-Cola on Monday began letting friends send Cokes to each other via Twitter.

The Tweet-A-Coke promotion lets you tweet a link to a friend that, once opened, lets them order a Coke at participating Regal Cinemas locations. To send the Coke, you have to authenticate your Twitter account and then enter your credit card info.

After that, the tweet you send will show up in your account and your friend's account. Your friend receives a link to Coca-Cola eGift that's redeemable at some Regal Cinemas locations. The gifts are in $5 increments, but you can send as many as you like. The program is only available in the U.S. at this point.
