GIFs have come to TweetDeck.

Twitter announced on Thursday that users can now view GIFs in TweetDeck on web, Chrome, and Windows desktop for TweetDeck, though the upgrade is not yet available on the Mac app.

Until now, GIFs uploaded to Twitter remained motionless inside TweetDeck. TweetDeck, which Twitter acquired in 2011, is a favorite of power users, offering sortable columns to more easily sift through different Twitter streams and lists.

Twitter added support for GIFs to its regular web client in June of last year. On Twitter, they work much like video content, appearing on the timeline with a play button.

On TweetDeck, however, GIFs work slightly differently. Instead of clicking a prompt to play, the GIFs automatically loop constantly in the browser.

It's unclear if (or when) GIFs will come to the native TweetDeck apps. Twitter did not immediately respond to Mashable's request for comment.
