But, could money change the Twitter photo landscape for TweetPhoto? That's certainly a possibility now that they've launched their Developer Revenue Program, giving developers 100% of Google AdSense revenue should they make TweetPhoto the default photo sharing provider insider their applications.

The revenue program goes hand-in-hand with the release of a more robust TweetPhoto API that supports everything from adding geo-coordinates, posting comments, viewing shared items, and aggregate views of what users are viewing or favoriting, to getting back user profile data, Facebook and Twitter friends (and their photos, comments, and favorites), and search by tag, title, and user.

In short, the RESTful API should enable developers to quickly integrate to support TweetPhoto. Developers need to complete the Dev Rev Pro Agreement to get their share of revenue, but the big catch is that they must make TweetPhoto the default photo utility in their Twitter app. This means that these apps would then automatically post photos to TweetPhoto, unless the user adjusts their photo upload settings.

Now that developers can profit by and leverage TweetPhoto's API, you're likely to see that service pop up in more and more of your favorite applications (Twitterlator Pro and DestroyTwitter are already on that list). What's still uncertain is whether the developer tools and financial incentives will have an effect on the end user. The mainstream Twitter audience, celebrities included, have latched on to TwitPic, so they'll really have to see a benefit to migrate away from this service.
