Like clockwork, the United States has dissolved into a mess of whimpers and exhausted relief. Some weary souls likely exerted the last of their energy to pound their keyboards in horror; others beat their chests in excitement.
It's Tax Day. Again. Blame the earth's curiously fast revolution. Those who received refunds now walk the streets with the lightness of young lovers. Those who owe money see only signs of conspiracies from the government or family or employer. Those who forgot to file are pinching their arms and legs and necks to wake up from this oddly familiar nightmare.
You can't deduct a broken heart, nor can you itemize all of the feels, but we can at least take a much-needed moment here to honor the many emotions that this trying day brings about in us all.

The worst morning of my year is always waking to see that @mallelis remembered about taxes at 11:52pm on Tax Day. pic.twitter.com/efUGb9vmRU— Nicole Cliffe (@Nicole_Cliffe) April 16, 2015

One of the negatives of doing your taxes late on April 14th is figuring out you have to start paying quarterly in '15 starting...today.— Eric Lilly (@EricLilly7) April 15, 2015
