It Was Bound to Happen: Twhirl Adds Seesmic

Twhirl and Seesmic owner Loic LeMeur announced this afternoon, as reported by CenterNetwork's Allen Stern, that Twhirl would now be supporting Seesmic video embeds within the most popular Twitter and FriendFeed client on the Web. The download is in somewhat of a limited test mode now, and only available from this download link.

Presently, the extent of the functionality only supports viewing of video, not recording, which is reportedly coming out in "a couple of weeks." Seesmic continues to be one of the least useful forms of shortform broadcast messaging in the concensus of the general public, but it isn't for lack of distribution. In recent weeks, Seesmic has grown from being YouTube meets Twitter to a platform for video commenting on blogs, and now with its integration within Twhirl, it's likely that it's adoption will increase further.

Still, as is demonstrated in this announcement video from Loic, the shortcomings of Seesmic are very apparent. Where most of us would simply cut and paste a download URL, Loic has to spend the better part of a minute reading, repeating, writing on a PostIt and then holding still for the camera the secret URL with which to download the test version of the Twhirl client.
