Twin Peaks may be set for a return to TV, but a just-announced book from the show's co-creators is going to update fans on all the action in one of fiction's strangest towns ahead of the show's premiere.

Flatiron Books Thursday announced it will publish The Secret Lives of Twin Peaks, a novel that will explain what happened to all the people in the iconic town in the 25 years since the show went off the air and offer "a deeper glimpse into the central mystery that was only touched on by the original series," according to a release. The book is set for release in late 2015.

"Bob Miller and I have enjoyed a fantastic fifteen year relationship in publishing," Frost said in a statement. "This has long been a dream project of mine that will bring a whole other aspect of the world of Twin Peaks to life for old fans and new. I couldn't be more thrilled."

Last week, Showtime shocked fans of the canceled series in announcing they were resurrecting the 1990s cult classic for a nine-episode limited series, set to air in 2016.

Twin Peaks, which starred Kyle MacLachlan, originally aired on FOX for two seasons, ending in 1991.

No cast -- new or returning -- has been announced for the new series.
