The Western Wall in Jerusalem (also known as the Kotel) is a place where believers place notes with their prayers. But what if you're far from Jerusalem? This problem is solved by Israeli student Alon Nir, who opened a Twitter account, twitter.com/thekotel, where you can send prayers which will then be posted to the Western Wall.
The idea is actually not entirely new. There are services that deliver prayers sent by email, text messages or fax to the Western Wall, but this is the first time someone has used Twitter for this purpose. To send prayers, you must first follow the Kotel Twitter account, and wait for it to follow you back. After that, prayers are sent by direct messages. Nir promises that the prayers will remain private, and that he will deliver them to the Western Wall on a regular basis.
