In case you missed it, on Monday it was reported that Twitter and a production company were working on a television show that “harness[es] Twitter to put players on the trail of celebrities.” Twitter quickly downplayed this, saying there is no official TV show, but confirmed that the company had indeed signed a deal with Reveille and Brillstein.

The funny thing about all of this is that a deal seemingly wouldn’t even be necessary – Twitter is a platform, and anyone could produce a show utilizing it as part of the plot. As one of many examples, Justin Timberlake and MTV incorporate Twitter in their new reality show, sans any apparent official deal with the microblogging service.
