The Ice Bucket Challenge may have found its uncomfortable successor in the Twizzler Challenge.
The challenge is essentially that spaghetti scene in Lady and the Tramp -- two people snack on a single Twizzler until their mouths meet. Kathie Lee Gifford and Matt Lauer demonstrated just how supremely awkward it is on this morning's Today show.

It started during Jon Stewart's Night of Too Many Stars, a fundraiser benefitting autism programs across the country. A viewer challenged Today host Willie Geist to take the Twizzler Challenge with Orange is the New Black's Uzo Aduba and the pair obliged.
Geist, bitten by the Twizzler makeout bug, took the challenge again with Meredith Vieira on her show. Since the entertainment value of people sort-of-but-not-really kissing Willie Geist is limited, Lauer and Gifford stepped up to the licorice plate and really went at it.
