Bono played a concert in New York City on Monday, but it wasn't at the Barclays Center or Madison Square Garden.

U2 is in the midst of promoting and preparing for its North American iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE tour, and part of that clearly involves dressing in street performer clothes and taking over the S train platform at Grand Central Station.

The multi-platinum rock band is in New York gearing up for a Friday night appearance on The Tonight Show. Fittingly, Jimmy Fallon was reportedly on hand during the impromptu subway station set, though it's unclear whether the performance was being taped as part of a segment for the show.

Randomly, Mario Batali and his bright orange Crocs were among the crowd for the concert.

The official set list from the subway show hasn't been posted, but the band did play Angel in Harlem and Beautiful Day.

U2's appearance on Fallon is set to happen six months after it was originally rescheduled due to a bike accident that seriously injured U2 frontman and wearing-sunglasses-inside connoisseur Bono.
