After canceling two shows in November in the immediate aftermath of the deadly terrorist attacks in Paris, rock megastars U2 returned to the city for their make-up dates and paid tribute to the victims of the attacks.

Taking the stage at the AccordHotel Arena, Bono talked of Paris and the healing power of music, telling the crowd, according to Variety, “If you love liberty, Paris is your hometown."

Later in the show, as the band played their popular anthem "In the Name of Love," the names of the Paris attack victims were displayed on the arena's giant screen, overlaying a French flag the now-famous peace sign/Eiffel Tower symbol from artist Jean Jullien in the center.

It was a touching moment, similar to the Super Bowl 36 halftime tribute the band paid to the victims of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks in the United States.

Rumors had circulated that rock band Eagles of Death Metal -- who were performing at the music venue Le Bataclan on November 13 when the club was stormed by attackers, killing 89 people -- would appear on alongside U2 on Sunday night.

While they weren't the special guests for that performance (celebrated singer Patti Smith was), there are still whispers that the bands will appear together at Monday's concert, which will be aired in the United States on HBO.

Appearing over the weekend on CNN's GPS, Bono and The Edge talked with Fareed Zakaria about a new song inspired by Paris.
