It's been a soggy weekend in northern England as widespread flooding caused by heavy rains prompted the evacuation of thousands of homes. Emergency services have been fully mobilized as officials work to keep the public safe from lingering threats.
The rain has receded in some areas, but hundreds of flood warnings remain in effect even as clean-up continues and more inclement weather looms. U.K. weather services expect the threat of additional rainfall to linger for parts of the country until Dec. 30.
