Script to screen, the Tina Fey-produced Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has had quite the journey.

Originally developed for NBC, Netflix ended up taking on the series when it became clear the broadcast network wouldn't have a good spot on its schedule for the comedy.

On Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Ellie Kemper plays a woman who has been rescued from a doomsday cult, and finds a job as a nanny for an Upper East Side socialite, played by Jane Krakowski.

"It all sort of happened within a matter of days, and because the show is made by NBC, it's in NBC's best interests for the show to have its best home," Fey told reporters earlier this month. "And rather than trying to stick it on NBC between a multi-cam and a drama, they agreed that this would be the right place for it."

We'll have to wait and see whether or not that's true, but one thing is clear, at least judging from Kimmy's just-released trailer: Netflix has scooped up the show 30 Rock fans have been waiting for.
