Two new trailers for Underground, WGN America's upcoming historical TV series, have finally dropped.

The show tells the story of slaves who escaped using the Underground Railroad, starring actors Aldis Hodge, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Christopher Meloni and more, with the clips feeding viewers a taste of the action-based drama.

Executive produced by Oscar-winning musician John Legend, the show also strikes a modern tone by adding a hip hop soundtrack, using songs like "Black Skinhead" by Kanye West in the first trailer (as well as the show's opening scene).

The first trailer lays out the plan for escape, crafted by ambitious slave Noah (Hodge).

The second trailer follows what happens when they finally escape, hinting at the violent trouble soon to come.

Underground will premiere March 9 on WGN America.
