One pony in central California became a magical fugitive Wednesday night.

After owners placed a unicorn horn on her head for a photo shoot, Juliet the pony escaped, leading the California Highway Patrol on a magical, three-hour-long police chase.

Juliet's owner, Sandra Boos, told KMPH News that she occasionally takes pictures of the 400-pound Shetland wearing a pink halter and unicorn horn. Though this time went very differently.

"The calls were coming in as a unicorn running around out there on the roadway," California Highway Patrol Officer Josh McConnell told KMPH.

Authorities chased the pony dressed as a mythical creature for over three hours without catching her.

In fact, a helicopter had to be called in to help track Juliet. But it wasn't until a neighboring horse owner remembered the runaway and her horse, Shady, were friends that things began winding down.

Shady's owner rode her horse toward Juliet and the escapee ended up following her friend into a trailer.

"[A] call came over the radio that said the unicorn is in custody," Boos said. "...There was a huge sigh of relief, a few tears, and some laughter. It was the comedic relief needed in the moment."

Juliet and her family got their happy ending -- however, the pony was shamed this morning via Facebook for her naughty behavior.

Hopefully Juliet has learned her lesson and will be getting her magical horn back soon.
