We typically make an effort in our lists to bring you free services, but sometimes the ones that do require you to pay are so insanely cheap, it seems silly not to do the upgrade and get the extra benefits. We've gathered up 16 from the "If you're using them, go for the upgrade" column. In most cases, you'll be happy you spent a couple of measly bucks for a decent upgrade.
Basecamp - Basecamp from 37Signals is a super easy collaboration tool, and while they do offer a free version, you are limited to only working on one project, and you get no storage space. For as low as $12 a month you can work on multiple projects and store some data on their servers.
CafePress - Have you opened a CafePress shop, and your one design is doing well? Did you know that with a premium shop you can sell as many designs as you want, and on even more product selections? It costs as little as $4.99 a month, but if you have some great ideas, that's a pittance compared to what you might bring in.
Flickr Pro - Do you find yourself running out of storage space for all of your photos? Are you running out of bandwidth each month? Flick Pro is only $24.95 a year and will take all the limits off of your account, as well as remove all of the ads you see while browsing.
Google Accounts - While GMail already gives you 6.4 GB of storage, and Picasa gives you 1 GB, some people need more. Google will let you upgrade with another 10 GB for $20 a year, or even go all the way to 400 GB for $500 annually.
Google Earth Plus - For $20 a year you can upgrade to Google Earth Plus and add real-time GPS updating, import spreadsheets with location data, and more.
LinkedIn Premium Accounts - For as low as $60.00 a year, LinkedIn users can upgrade to premium account that allow for more open connections and quicker customer service replies.
LiveJournal Premium Accounts - For$19.95 a year, users can upgrade to no advertisements, ability to make voice posts, added storage and more features.
Photobucket Pro - For $24.95 a year, Photobucket Pro will give you the ability to add videos of up to 10 minutes in length, full FTP uploading access, no advertising in your account and more.
Picnik Premium Services - For $24.95 a year you get the ability to edit old saves, more fonts, advanced tools and more.
Pogo - For as little as $5.99 a month you get to add over 100 more games to the popular Pogo site, and double their jackpot prizes if you join their club.
RememberTheMilk Pro Service - $25 a year will give you priority email support, access to the iPhone and iPod Touch app, and you'll be supporting the site. It feels good, trust us.
Second Life - Though Second Life allows you to play for free, you don't get the really good stuff until you sign up for the pay accounts. With Premium account being as low as $6.00 a month when you sign up for a year, it's hard to say no to.
Skype Pro - For $3.00 a month you can add voice mail, unlimited calls with the USA for free, transfer calls to other lines, and lost more. If you're a heavy Skype user, it makes perfect sense.
Slacker Premium Radio - Tired of being limited to how many songs you can skip? Wish there were no ads? Slacker Premium Radio will take care of those problems, and give you new features, for as low as $7.50 a month.
WordPress.com Storage Upgrade - Find that 3 GB is just not enough storage for your blogging needs? You can upgrade the storage just 1 GB at a time, or you can get 15 GB for $50 a year, and 25 GB for $90 a year.
