uPlayMe, the music search and discovery tool, has closed a second round of funding. The funding was for an undisclosed amount, but is in the multi-million dollar range. Leading the round is Warner Music Group and Village Ventures, with other investors participating. The company started with $1 million in seed funding last year. Read our interview with uPlayMe's Dave Fishman here.

This latest round of funding will be used for product and service development, and distribution of its application. Centering around a desktop application, uPlayMe will match members in real-time, building a social network around similar interests in music. From there, users can also discover new music. With its heavy tie-ins with Warner (uPlayMe's chairman, Dan Pelson, is a Warner exec), the company will also be used as a resource tool for tapping into undiscovered talent and better serving the niche music community. uPlayMe will also be working with Warner to get its applications on artists' and labels' websites and presence on social networks.
