Hear that noise? It's just the sound of thousands of American World Cup fans' hearts shattering.

The U.S. men's national team put up a hell of a fight during Tuesday's World Cup match against Belgium. They held out strong the entire game, taking the match into extra time at 0-0. And even when it all seemed over when Belgium went up 2-0, the U.S. scored, proving we never, ever give up.

Despite the sad news of a loss, there were shining moments of the match -- including the man, the myth, the legend Tim Howard and his record-setting performance. Plus, we gotta give it up for Julian Green, who, at 19, became the youngest player to score in the World Cup since 2006.

In this trying time, let's look at the bright side -- we had a good run (everyone except Jermaine Jones' nose) and we can all finally agree that pancakes are better than Belgian waffles.
