Userplane has announced its OpenSocial APIs, which enable developers to integrate Userplane applications into their own apps. This will work for Userplane tools like webchat, messenger and Webrecorder. It's an interesting combo offering that's designed specifically for applications built on OpenSocial. It combines much of what's existing independently on the web, or as "stand-alone mashups" to be present within an application that works on an established social network.

The combining of such social tools makes them immediately available to participating users, and less reliant on third party tools, or even chat tools provided by the social network. Userplane also seems to be generally interested in appealing to the developer community. This will ensure even more widespread use of its communications tools, and you can see by Userplane's efforts that it really wants its tools to be everywhere (literally, everywhere) a user could possibly be in an online manner.

Userplane recently indicated its plans for a platform similar to OpenSocial, for supporting applications to be built and distributed throughout AOL's entire network. And Userplane recently launched free APIs, designed for developers to be able to include in applications they create with Userplane communications tools.
