KickApps has teamed up with VeriSign to offer a new platform for web publishers that integrates options from both services, and includes Verisign's Social Media Solution.
Announced at the CTIA, the new Social Media Solution is really just a way for VeriSign customers to offer hosted websites with communities, which are built on KickApps components. There are mobile media uploading features included in the community-building options, and these mobile media features include streaming, peer-assisted delivery, SMS and MMS as well. Below is an example of a VeriSign-hosted online community.
As you may well know, some of KickApps' other components include support for the submission of user-generated content, programmable video players, widgets and more. Another company moving into social website-creation tools is Cisco, which appears to be gearing up to offer a white label solution as well. KickApps, which recently raised $11 million in funding, has also added Joomla's CMS to its community-building platform.
