A group of idiots from Australia have -- as groups of idiots usually do -- made the unfortunate mistake of making a Facebook event for a party public. Someone invited the Victoria Police when they weren't looking.

Planning an event described as a massive, BYO "beach gath," hosts Lleam, Tyson and Lochie wanted nothing more than to have a rager near the local yacht club. They invited more than 900 people in the process.

We're guessing a sneaky invitee decided Victoria's police force deserved to let off some steam as well. It all went downhill from there.

Being good sports, Victoria Police's social media team willfully accepted the invite, but wanted to make sure the hosts had everything in order, including permits.

"Thanks for the invite Lleam, Tyson and Lochie," Victoria Police wrote on the event page. "Rosebud police will definitely be attending! PS. Did you remember to get your permits from Mornington Peninsula Shire Council?"

Not one of the hosts were left unscathed in the aftermath of such glorious banter in the aftermath.

The hosts promptly changed the event name to "SHUTDOWN LOL," instead of cancelling it like regular people, and have changed the event location to Mars. So if you're still down, we suppose it's on if you can find transport there.

It's a lesson no one seems to learn: Don't make your Facebook events public if you want them to go ahead.
