NEW YORK -- Angels from around the world ascended onto New York City Tuesday to show off the hottest and most innovative lingerie, in the 2015 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

As each model took the stage, their looks had an uncanny resemblance to the costumes worn by one of America's greatest pop stars.

While the inspiration for the show's theme is not confirmed, one might draw a strong hypothesis that it was none other than Britney Spears herself.

We dug through the music video archives to compare the show's lingerie looks to some of Spear's most famous outfits.

Sequin catsuit

Owning her wings since 2010, Candice Swanepoel's "Ice Angels" outfit was a modern update of another nude bedazzled body stocking made famous by Spears in her Toxic video.

Princess sleeves

Kendall Jenner made her Victoria's Secret fashion show debut wearing mint green puffed sleeves that looked striking similar to the shrunken blouse Spears twirled and whirled in for her Overprotected video

Rainbow bright

After the opening runway walks, angel feathers were swapped for exotic bustiers and butterfly wings --a look that Spears might have worn on her Circus tour.

Under the big top

Speaking of Circus, Lily Aldridge's embellished jacket harkens back to a comparable style worn by music's original ring master.

'90s fly girl

It-girl Gigi Hadid dominated her first VS runway, hopefully silencing her body-shaming haters forever. Her crop top and baggy pants jogged our memories all the way back to Spear's first single Baby One More Time.

Surf's up

The PINK portion of the show is all about being young and having fun. Devon Windsor's surfboard backpack seemed to be an homage to the multiple trophies the pop princess won at the Teen Choice Awards.

Hippie, hippie shake

While Spears might not have invented the rockstar bellbottoms and midriff combination, New Victoria's Secret Angel Kate Grigorieva's look brought us back to another of the singer's Overprotected looks.

Dominatrix

Izabel Goulart's sexy black and gold number brought to mind the singer's fiercer, more modern persona -- it's Britney, bitch.

Enforcing the law

Both VS model Josephine Skriver and Spears arrested audiences with their bad cop routine.

Bedazzled brassiere

While the lingerie retailer has been making jeweled fantasy bras since 1997, Spears is also no stranger to performing in a rhinestone undergarment.
