There's no doubt that Princess Gisla (Morgane Polanski) could think of hundreds of places she'd rather be than at her own wedding in the Season 4 premiere of Vikings.

And we're not just talking about wedding day nerves here; as we saw in the Season 3 finale, she pretty much despises the idea of being forced to marry Viking Rollo (Clive Standen), who she sees as basically animal. (He, keep in mind, is making the move for his own reasons that are also unrelated to the heart.)

But Gisla's fight against this marriage doesn't stop at the altar.

After being forced to go through with the nuptials in the premiere, a new issue arises: the consummation of the marriage.

As you can imagine, she's less than pleased when a gaggle of onlookers await her in the bedchambers following the wedding, and she's not giving into the custom without a fight.

What unfolds, however, is not what you'd expect.

In a time when TV is awash with depictions of violence against women that are brushed off as being products of the era in which they take place, Vikings is taking a much different approach with this scene -- one that results in not unnecessary brutality but comedy.

Much of this stems from their clash of cultures -- they don't even speak the same language. But they obviously also have no interest in seeing eye-to-eye at the moment and their mutual disinterest in their current situation is highly amusing.

In the script pages below, which you're seeing only on Mashable, creator Michael Hirst previews the worst honeymoon ever and explains the show's approach to the scene.

You can watch the entire episode Feb. 18 at 10 p.m. on the History Channel.
