For this week's Mashable Vine Challenge, create a six-second video that captures the movement of liquid. This can mean raindrops on a window, a rushing waterfall, warm coffee or even oobleck. Let the creative juices flow -- literally.

You can film your chosen liquid, or recreate its form using other materials such as paper and clay.

Vineographer Matt Fogarty will guest-host this week's challenge. Fogarty started making stop-motion videos at a young age, when his father gave him a Sony handycam to use. "Using Vine can be frustrating, but what I love about the platform is its analog style of recording," he said. "It reminds me of working with my father's camera. The limitations of Vine are really what make it special for me."

Last year, Fogarty, along with a group of other stop-motion animators, created a Vine account called All Natural Vines, which celebrates CGI-free, in-app creations. "While it’s tricky and certainly a challenge to shoot all natural, the reward is within the chore," he said.

Check out some of the amazing animations he's done, here.

Advice From Matt Fogarty

1. Have a basic concept in mind, but do not box yourself in. It’s in the nature of fluid to move freely, and it would be wise to use that to your advantage.

2. Make sure you understand the physics of whatever fluid you are trying to portray. All fluids share similarities, but can react very differently (e.g. water versus milk).

3. Have fun testing. Pour water over different-sized objects to better understand the minute details that can help you portray smooth fluidity.

4. As always, be sure to have good lighting, patience and maybe even a bottle of water for inspiration (and just in case you’re thirsty).

Share your Vine by Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 9 p.m. ET, using the hashtag #FluidShift, for a chance to be featured on Mashable and have your creation revined.
