Yesterday we heard about Madonna's upcoming Hard Candy concert, which will be streamed online through MSN. As I noted, there are several other ways in which concerts online are being distributed amongst the crowds of online users. Second Life, for instance, has played host to a handful of musical concerts which your avatar can happily enjoy "live."

Another virtual world, called Virtual Vancouver, is moving in this direction as well--not with just one or two concerts but with an entire music festival. Starting May 14th and running through the 18th, Utherverse's Virtual Vancouver (sister site to Redlightcenter.com) will be hosting an online component to its partner, New Music West. Your Virtual Vancouver avatar can check out the festival's live video streams of NMW's concerts and other events from the comfort of your own home.

Add that onto Virtual Vancouver's adult-friendly environment, and you've got a virtual Spring Break fling just waiting to happen. Given Virtual Vancouver's niche for presenting an adult-friendly environment, I think the presentation of live concerts fits within the larger goals of its digital world.
