VMIX, the video-sharing social networking site, announces that it will be providing Media General with a business solution to manage user-generated videos, photos, audio, blogs, ratings, polls, and more across its fifty online properties, which include three Southeast Metropolitan dailies, the Tampa Tribune, The Richmond Times-Dispatch and The Winston-Salem Journal.

With this deal, Media General will be able to extend VMIX's social networking tools to its readers across its several online properties, which are mainly comprised of traditional media companies and their online components, including newspaper and broadcast properties. This is an effort to further engage the audience, inundate them with local news and media, offer more interactivity for users and take advantage of the user-generated content movement. Included in the social networking offerings will be video, photo and music upload, content management, ratings, comments, blogs and forums. More importantly for Media General and its site managers are the demographics gained by offering social networking features throughout these traditional media sites.

Other traditional media companies incorporating social networking features include The San Diego Union-Tribune with MindTouch, and VMIX's last partnership with DirecTV to promote The Fizz.
