Volkswagen is promoting its semi-autonomous Trailer Assist system with a pretty crazy stunt.

The Norwegian arm of the German automaker cut a small car in half and constructed a plexiglass trailer around it, letting the driver see out but preventing anyone else from seeing in. The driver pulls a VW wagon around town while making it look like some lunatic is reversing his trailer at a breakneck speed.

Trailer Assist allows the car to park semi-autonomously using the rear backup camera. With the feature engaged, the driver designates which way the trailer should go using the sideview mirror switch; the car steers itself and the trailer into the parking spot.

Though this is a shocking stunt for Norwegian eyes, it might be less so in America; reversing a trailer down the road is the sort of thing you might expect from a crazy driver in the U.S.
