A factory in Japan is responsible for cooling your beverages on these hot summer days.

The Honda Reizo Co. in Taishi creates giant blocks of ice that are then crushed down to ice cubes, which are packaged and distributed around Japan. Each day, the factory produces about 100 tons of ice, or about 840 ice blocks. The ice is bluish because the company sources its water from 100-meter-deep natural springs, which has a higher mineral concentration.

The president of the company, Akiyoshi Honda, 66, told The Asahi Shimbun: “I want customers to feel cool with ice and survive the hot summer."
