This is neither a fever dream nor a Saturday Night Live skit: It's simply the Pine Brothers trolling the ad world by hiring rapper Waka Flocka Flame as its throat lozenge spokesman.

During Sunday's American Music Awards, Waka made his commercial debut -- in what was unquestionably the best part of the AMAs -- with a 30-second spot in which he was either encouraging us all to sooth our aching throats or take up smoking weed.

Bruh. Did waka flocka seriously do a cough drop commercial? What had the world come too.— Rainbow Sprinkles (@Supremepoppi_) November 24, 2014

The Pine Bros. have not yet responded to Mashable's request for comment, but maybe it's for the best that we have no context or explanation and we just accept life's gifts as they come.

The company also announced Sunday night on its Facebook that the ad was banned by WBZ, the CBS affiliate in Boston, Massachusets. WBZ has not yet responded for comment.

Considering Waka's last brush with viral fame was hiring a professional blunt roller, it seems 2014 has been a very entrepreneurial year for this rapper.
