When last we saw Rick and company on AMC's The Walking Dead, their lives were pretty much in shambles. Onetime haven Alexandria had been overrun with the shuffling deceased; Deanna was facing certain death at the hands of a horde of walkers; the Wolf that Morgan had been protecting all season ended up escaping and kidnapping Denise to boot, proving Morgan's entire storyline to be a massive waste of time. (What, just us?)

And then there were Daryl, Abraham and Sasha, on their way back to Alexandria -- until they were confronted by a gang of thugs who apparently work for some guy named Negan.

Evidently, we'll pick up with that crew at the very beginning of the series' midseason premiere, as revealed by the episode's first four minutes -- which AMC posted on its website Wednesday. (The clip isn't embeddable; watch it over here.)

In the clip, Daryl and pals face off against Negan's lieutenant, who demands that they hand over their weapons. As the standoff gets tenser and tenser, Sasha demands to know who the men are. Their ringleader responds that he'll ask the questions when the trio lead them to the place they call home -- where he and his gang presumably plan to keep looting to their hearts' content. Too bad they don't know about the walker army that awaits back in Alexandria.

Check out the preview here -- and tune in to The Walking Dead's big return Feb. 14 at 9 p.m. on AMC.
